Black Poplar’s primary action is to harmonize the arteries, particularly in the lower body, improving the fluidity of blood. As a secondary action, it is a harmonizer for the moisture in the body, resolving inflammatory states and boosting immunity, and also for the kidneys increasing the elimination of uric acid. This action reduces inflammation in articulations (joints).

Black Poplar provides his buds for the preparation of its Gemmotherapy Extract. Originally from Turkey and Iran, the black poplar was spread by the Arabs throughout the Mediterranean basin. Spontaneous at the edge of water and alluvial deposits, it cleans and dries the ground. Its growth is very rapid and it can reach a height of up to 40 meters. The usual longevity does not exceed 200 years. Its roots are horizontal and shallow, always looking for water and rich soil. The branches of the top of the tree are flexible, the bud brings to our organism this notion of flexibility at the circulatory and mental level. The black poplar buds are covered with a wax appreciated by bees who use it to produce propolis, a substance that protects the hive from external aggressions. They also synthesize salicin, a precursor of salicylic acid (aspirin). These buds are the only part of the tree still used therapeutically.
Historically, buds and bark were used in the Middle Ages for the preparation of the famous “unguentum populeum”, an ointment with sedative, healing and anti-hemorrhoidal properties.
