This large, very elegant, and imposing tree produces buds that are used for the preparation of Horse Chestnut Gemmotherapy Extract. A native of Albania and Northern Greece, easily recognizable by its large palmate leaves composed of 5 to 7 leaflets, its white or red flowers grouped in large panicular inflorescences and its globular fruits, the horse chestnut tree can reach 75 to 90 feet (25 to 30 meters) high. It prefers dry and cool ground.

The fruits, which are toxic to humans in their raw state, have, as their name suggests, been used as food for horses with dermatosis or respiratory conditions.
