Unlike the other extracts, it is the seed of Silver Birch that is used here to prepare the Gemmotherapy Extract. Silver Birch, which appeared on earth 30 million years ago, is one of the most resistant trees. Essence of light, great colonizer of uncultivated lands, it appreciates siliceous and very poor soils, regenerates degraded lands and favors the implantation of other species. It lives in sparse deciduous, needle or mixed forests, associating with beech, conifers and alders but also forms pure forests. The tree can reach 75 to 90 feet (25 to 30 meters) in height. Its foliage lets the light through and its typical silver-white bark helps to diffuse.

The word birch comes from the Celtic root Betul, the first lunar month of the Celtic calendar, but also from the name of the Germanic goddess Birgit celebrated at Candlemas at the same time as the rising of the light. It is the tree of the initiates, the cosmic tree, the one that the shamans climb to reach the supreme knowledge.

In folk medicine, betula leaves are used as a diuretic.
