Sea Buckthorn is used in microdose at Stage 1 as a tonic to improve mood, particularly during winter months or during dark emotional periods, and acts as a guide to the light. It improves creativity and motivation and can be used throughout all stages as an NS support.

For acute protocols, it is used in full dose in prevention at the start of upper respiratory inflammation and during the convalescence stage if there is a concern for relapse.

The bud of this impenetrable bush is the source of Sea Buckthorn Gemmotherapy Extract. Recognizable from afar thanks to its numerous yellow-orange fruits that illuminate the area where it grows, Sea Buckthorn is a thorny shrub 4.5 to 9 feet (1.5 to 3 meters) high. The scientific name Hippophae derives from Greek hippos which means horse and phaos (luster) because in Ancient Greece it was used to feed horses and give them a shiny coat.

Sea Buckthorn is a pioneer species of acid and desolate territories, it consolidates soils by fixing nitrogen thanks to a bacterial symbiosis. Typical of temperate regions, Sea Buckthorn occupies a very vast area, from Europe to Asia, from sea level to 5000 meters of altitude (Tibet), it adapts to all types of soil, except for the greasy grounds. It resists salt in the air and in the soil, but requires plenty of sunlight for good growth. It grows on soils rich in silica, an element that gives it robustness, rigidity and flexibility at the same time. It has a very developed root system with a very strong and deep main root from which horizontal roots branch out, fixing and improving the soils. Its dense and very thorny twigs make the fruit harvest perilous and painful. Its fruits, yellow or orange, are excessively rich in vitamin C and omega 7 fatty acids.

Used in Tibet since ancient times, it is one of the secrets of Tibetans’ vitality. Even in the West, Sea Buckthorn has long been used as a medicinal plant with antiscorbutic, antiseptic, astringent, and tonic properties. In folk medicine, it was used against colds and the oil as a revitalizer for dry, dull skin.
